Villagers up in arms against ITBP

ITANAGAR, May 3: Villagers, PR leaders and gaon burahs of Loiliang, Lohitpur and New Chiblangliang have lodged complaints with Lohit deputy commissioner against Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force based at Lohitpur for their alleged harassment and unwarranted interrogation to local villagers in their entry gate.

The villagers, who had been maintaining a cordial relationship with Army in the past, are being harassed by the ITBP personnel in the name of checking in their entry gate, only through which villagers can go to their agriculture fields, they said and urged the DC to take up the matter with state government to mitigate the villagers sufferings.

Locals from Loiliang, New Chiblangliang and Shivaji Nagar  in particular and Hucheliang, Pomliang, Koraliang and Mekailiang in general, have to face intense and repeated checking and scrutiny at the ITBP’s entry gate overtime they pass through the gate on the Lohtipur–New Chiblangliang-Shivajinagar road.

“It is understandable that some security measures need to be examined, but the ITBP is subjecting us to intense and heavy checking demanding I-cards, license etc on every time we pass through the entry gate,” the letter claimed. They also complained of reckless driving by ITBP personnel in the village areas which has posed serious threats not only to domestic animals but also human lives. Recently a motorcyclist was hit by ITBP vehicle, they claimed. Rush driving by ITBP has so far caused deaths of several domestic animals, like chicken, pigs, goats and cattle which we brought to the notice of the authority in several earlier occasions, but to no avail, they said.

 

Beware of brokers: students warn parents

ITANAGAR, May 3: Arunachal Students Union of Tamil Nadu (ASUT) cautioned the parents and guidance of Arunachalee students to be aware of the brokers and avoid them while they plan to send their wards outside the state for higher education.

ASUT said that the brokers take thrice the actual fee amount for getting admission in various education institutes in Tamil Nadu from Arunachalee students for Diploma, Degree, Medical Science courses etc. Not only that, the brokers also put them in some little known educational institutions located in interior places instead of reputed one much to the disappointment of the students. In such institutions, the students frequently face communication problems due to language barriers, ASUT said. ASUT advised the students, their parents and guidance to seek help from Arunachalee students presently studying in the state for any admission related matter. It further advised them not to prefer three colleges of Tamil Nadu, namely Andavar Polytechnic College, Gobichettipalam, Erode Salem Kongu Polytechnic College, Veerapandi, and Sun Institution of Technology, Erachukulam, Nagarcoil district. According to ASUT these three colleges rarely take care of the students of Arunachal Pradesh.

 

AAPSU meet to discuss ‘white paper’

ITANAGAR, May 3: The Apex students’ body of the state (AAPSU) has called its federal unit on 5th May 2012 at Itanagar for an emergency meeting pertaining to various issues including ‘White Paper” on financial status, Law and order problem in capital complex and boundary problem.

The state government in a swift move to mollify AAPSU in a written communiqué on May 1 addressed to the union’s president Takam Tatung invited them for a meeting at official bungalow of Minister Finance, Planning & PWD along with Parliamentary secretary (Home) on 02/05/2012.

However, AAPSU on receipt of letter wrote back expressing its inability to attend the said meeting before holding 5th May meet.

The union once again while airing its dissatisfaction over the functioning of the state government on various front in spite of its repeated appeal earlier is of the opinion that the present state government lacks “accommodative nature” when civil societies and other stake holders of the state sincerely put forth their positive opinion for state building. The AAPSU also expresses its dismay over the progress of unearthing the truth behind the chopper crash in which one of the most popular Chief Ministers of the state Dorjee Khandu met with his tragic death. Even after completion of one year the real story of the incident is still to emerge before the masses of the state. The intriguing story of the missing black box of the chopper has not amused us either. The state government should immediately come out with committee report if any and let know the public what led to the deaths, the Union said.

 

AAHSU team meets NEHC&H authority

ITANAGAR, May 3: A team of All Arunachal Homoeopathic Students Union led by its president Kamku Pordung met North East Homoeopathic College and Hospital (NEHC&H) chairman T C Teli yesterday  and discussed various issues related to the college.

The Union informed that the college authority has assured to sort out the internship problem. The chairman of NEHC&H also approved fund for development of infrastructure like proper library and laboratory facilities.  The chairman also informed that steps have already been taken to fulfill other requirements of the college, including posting of sufficient teaching staff, the union said.

AAHSU appealed to all the parents to cooperate with the college authority  and  let their children focus on study to become a good doctor.

 

BSNL urged to improve mobile service

ITANAGAR, May 3: Lower Subansiri District Nyishi Students Union (LSDNSU) expressed concern over the disruption in BSNL service in Raga and Boa-Simla area.

In a complaint letter addressed to the BSNL GM, the union said that most of the time, BSNL network remains out of order due to  irregular power supply. It appealed to the BSNL authorities to procure a generator set of its own for smooth functioning of the mobile services.

 

Police recruitment result out

ITANAGAR, May 3: The results of the special recruitment drive for the post of constable in civil police against Tirap and Changlang district were declared this evening. According to a communiqué from Police Headquarter, Itanagar the results have been made available at office of deputy commissioner, superintendent of police and police stations of both Tirap and Changlang districts. Further, the results have been uploaded in the website of Arunachal Pradesh Police www.arunpol.nic.in.

 

INTUC foundation day

Itanagar, May 3: Along with rest of the states, INTUC Arunachal Pradesh unit celebrated INTUC foundation day here today.

Unfurling the INTUC flag at TT Plant here on the occasion, State unit INTUC president Padi Richo advised the workers to be united and give fullest cooperation to the state government for all round development in the state.

INTUC Arunachal Pradesh unit working president cum APB &OCWWB chairman Jalley Sonam,  INTUC state general secretary cum AAPWU secretary general Changma Tajo also spoke on the occasion.

Gongo acquitted from bribery charge

ITANAGAR, May 3: The District and Sessions Court, Western Session  division Yupia has acquitted Tacha Gongo, PWD chief engineer, western zone from  the charge of attempted bribery.

While disposing off the Itanagar PS case No 84/2007 under section 12 of  Prevention of Corruption Act  against  Gongo for his alleged attempt to offer bribe of Rs five lakh to then CM late Dorjee Khandu  on his first day of office in April 2007 with ulterior motive,  the  district and session court judge in his verdict pronounced  on April 30 said, “It is the laid down principle of criminal jurisprudence that an accused can not be convicted, unless the prosecution prove their case beyond any reasonable doubt. …This Court is of the firm view that the prosecution had failed to prove their case beyond any reasonable doubt against the accused. As such, this Court has no option, but to acquit the accused from this case.” The Court has acquitted Gongo under section  235 of the CrPC.

 

Execution before award of scheme

ITANAGAR, May 3: The Karsingsha ASM has expressed strong resentment over the manner in which various works under SPA are being executed by some contractors with vested interest in advance before sanctioning of the schemes.

Citing example, the ASM alleged that  the Flood Control work under SPA for protection of Central Pig Breeding Farm Karsingsa are being executed ‘forcefully’ in advance. The scheme is yet to be sanctioned, he said.

While criticizing the few contractors for forcefully and illegally carrying out the construction works in advance at Piggery farm site Karsingsa without any designs, norm and guidelines of the department, he demanded the authority concerned to stop it immediately.

He said that the concern executing agency should take up the developmental schemes of the Panchayat area with full, proper coordination and management of the Panchayat leaders only. Otherwise, the Panchayat of Karsingsa has threatened to knock the Court on the basis of documents collected through RTI.

 

May day

Itanagar, May 3: International Labour Day was celebrated in a befitting manner at the Dera ground, Aalo on May 1.

Speaking on the occasion, former minister Doi Ado urged the  workers to cooperate with Govt agencies for all around development. Work force is the backbone of the state, he said and urged them maintain unity and get their names registered with Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB).

West Siang District Labour officer and Registering Officer Lee Ete and Hage Obing also stressed on registration of labourers’ name to avail the benefit under labour board.

AAPWU West Siang unit vice president Rinto Ete and general secretary Donga Kayi highlighted the grievances of the labourers.

Former ZPM Nyali Bagra also participated in the celebration.

Both Ado and Bagra handed over an amount of Rs 15,000 to Dope Lollen, wife of Late Kirli Lollen as financial assistance under workers board.

 

‘Monitor road construction works’

ITANAGAR, May 3: All Adi Bori Students Union has urged the BRO authorities at Aalo to strictly monitor the Dipu-Migging road construction at Cheying village point.

The union in a release today alleged that the BRO men engaged in road construction works are misusing the road infrastructure materials and selling it to common people.

ITANAGAR, May 3: Kento Kadu, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology, Jawaharlal Nehru College Pasighat has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) by Rajiv Gandhi University for his thesis,“Survey and Systematic Documentation of Ichthyofauna In Singen River of Arunachal Pradesh, India”. He conducted his research works under the supervision of Dr. D.N. Das, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, Rajiv Gandhi University.

The degree will be conferred on him at the next convocation of University.

He is the son of Mirken Kadu and Kombi Kadu  of Lumpo village of East Siang district.

Candle light vigil in Itanagar for Richard Loitam

ITANAGAR, May 3: Large number of citizens from Capital Region, mostly youngsters today took out a candle light vigil in memory of Late Richard Loitam, who was brutally murdered in Bangalore.

The march started from Indira Gandhi Park and culminated at Catholic Church Itanagar.

Students from various institutions of the state capital including North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), parents, well wishers joined the candle light vigil which was organized by the friends and former class mates from Assam Valley School, Tezpur.

The 19- year-old Richard from Manipur was a first-year student of Acharya NRV College of Architecture, Chikkabanavara. He was found dead in his hostel bed on April 17. Initially the police said that he died because of drug overdose. But a hasty retreat was made after medical reports said that there was no trace of drugs in Richard’s body. An embarrassed Bangalore Police has finally admitted that the student was murdered.

Many had moist eyes when Subu Onia, one of the organizers and friend of Richard spoke about him. He was a good human being, she said.

Dani Nagyang, a school junior of Richard touched a chord when she said that parents send their children outside the state hoping for a better future.

Father Tom led the service today. He advised the conglomeration of students to maintain peace and harmony, adding that only love can bring peace in the world.  

The event was organized by Nagyang, Onia and Zirngam Kadu. They thanked Don Bosco Youth Centre’s Father Cyriac for supporting the candle light vigil. We wish to spread the message of co-operation and oneness so that such tragic incident never repeats in the future, said the three youngsters. They set up a page on the social networking site Facebook to mobilize participations.

The gathering observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to Loitam and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

 

 

Mallo  asks IPR officers to make their presence felt

Naharlagun, May 3: Underlining the vital role of the department of IPR in the dissemination of development initiatives of the state government and to make the government sensitive about the development needs of the people, Secretary IPR, Indra Mallo Jain, called upon the DIPROs and PROs to maintain the relevance and presence of the departments through their commitment and responsible dissemination of the policies and programmes of the government.

She  said this while  addressing  the officers of IPR Department  on the technical session of the two days  IPR Officers’ Conference at the Administrative Training Institute, Naharlagun today.

One of the vital strengths of the department lies in the effective implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Advertisement Policy 1999, under which all the government advertisements have to be routed through the IPR, which will help in streamlining the system, benefit the local print medias and lessen the burden on the state exchequer, she said. She also emphasized on the need for the DIPROs and PROs to file stories on developmental initiatives, flagship programmes of the various government departments like health, education, sanitation, agriculture etc. and success stories and feature articles on art, culture etc. to keep their creativity alive and for publication in the Arunachal Review and other media.

Speaking about the monthly journal published by the IPR department, Mallo said, we need to further revamp its contents with innovative  and constant inputs from the Directorate and  district officers. The state government is fully supportive of the growth of the department, she added. Stating that public relations is ever evolving, the secretary said that with changing time the officers of the department need to  keep pace and re-orient themselves and work with renewed vigor and prove themselves as the true eyes and ears of the government.

Officers had an in-depth discussion and interaction on the various problems and issues of the department like anomaly in the pay scale of entry grade officers, lack of promotional avenues, accommodation, transportation, communication machineries, shortage of manpower at Hqs and districts, funding of the district offices. Besides, district IPROs and PROs, the technical session was participated by director, IPR, Leki Phuntso, deputy directors CM Longphong, Obang Tayeng, Dasher Teshi and other officers of the Directorate of IPR, Naharlagun. One dead in Seppa fire accident

SEPPA, May 3:  In a tragic fire accident, a 10- year-old boy was killed, another sustained grevious injury and two houses were gutted down completely at Seppa on Wednesday night. Source said that the fire broke out around 12 am late night probably from a candle light.

All belongings of the victims worth Rs 15 lakhs were reportedly burnt to ashes.

“I don’t know exactly how the fire broke out, but it might have been spread through a candle light,” said Karma Dolo, a house owner.

However, the cause of accident is yet to be ascertained,  police said.  It did not deny the speculation that candle light could be the reason for fire accident.  Citizens and fire brigade  fought bravely to control the fire from engulfing nearby houses.

Meanwhile, All East Kameng Students’ Union appealed to the deputy commissioner, superintendent of police and town magistrate to extend all support and provide compensation to the fire victims, including the family of the deceased.

 

 

Tawang Rhododendron Squash gaining popularity

Climate change has become a major issue for human being in the present era. The high altitudes of Himalayas are witnessing many adverse impacts of climate change during the past few years. Landslides occur due to the cumulative effect of erratic rainfall, deforestation and improperly planned infrastructure development like road construction. Massive afforestation and reforestation activities are inevitable to prevent the present landslides in the eastern Himalayan hills.

As part of equipping the communities of these high altitudes to fight against climate change,  Winrock International India – a national NGO has initiated a project with support from Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. As part of the project a few villages in Tawang district of Western Arunachal Pradesh have been trained for developing nurseries of Rhododendron arboreum trees - one of the species which can prevent landslides. This species of trees has been widely extracted from this region during the earlier years due to its high fuel wood value. During the last year Rhododendron  plantation  was taken up in the community nursery in the village Sakpret in Lumla  of Tawang district, the villagers have carried out reforestation in 2 hectares of degraded forest areas which is going to be preserved as a sacred grove (locally called as GNE in Monpa language). After this achievement with modern silviculture techniques the program moved into a new dimension in collaboration with the local NGO- Yuva Arunachal and the local public leaders.

MLA  Jambey Tashi purchased 3000 saplings of Rhododendron from the community nursery  recently which will be used for afforestation in the landslide hit area behind Tawang monastery.

Jambey Tashi said that since it is the first such effort in the state he preferred to use it to strengthen the historical and  sacred monument like Tawang Monastery which is under threat from landslides.

He bought 100 bottles of Rhododendron Squash locally made and branded as ‘Tawang Rhododendron Squash’ from the villagers of Sakpret and encouraged public leaders and people of the district to buy this locally made Tawang Rhododendron Squash to encourage self-sustenance livelihood initiatives undertaken by the villagers with the support of NGOs.

Arunachal football team leaves for Odisha today

ITANAGAR, May 3: The Arunachal Pradesh Football Association  (APFA) has selected a 21-member team for the 66th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy beginning at Cuttack, Odisha from May 11.

Arunachal Pradesh would open their championship campaign with a match against Maharashtra on May 11. They would take on Jammu and Kashmir in their second match on May 13.

The team would be leaving here for Orissa tomorrow to take part in the championship.

More recruitment under NVBDCP: Pavitra

ITANAGAR, May 3:  State Govt. has given approval for recruitment of all the sanctioned manpower for various districts of Arunachal Pradesh under National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), said parliamentary secretary, health and family welfare, Nido Pavitra in his inaugural address at the regional review meeting on GFATM Round-9 supported Intensified Malaria Control Project-II for North East states held here on May 2 and 3.

Addressing the participants at the review meeting, Pavtra said that district vector borne disease control officers have already been placed  in service in most of the districts. Such officers will be deployed in remaining districts soon for proper implementation of the malaria control programme at grassroots level.

State Govt is planning to absorb the existing contractual MPW’s under malaria control programme in phase wise manner and it is under process at Govt. level, the parliamentary secretary informed.

Pavitra observed that the malaria is a preventable and curable disease, but in term of morbidity and mortality the malaria is still a number one public health problem in Arunachal Pradesh. He said the state economy is greatly affected by this disease as the people residing in the rural areas have to spend lot of their hard earned money for treatment due to lack of proper infrastructure including road because of rough geographical terrain.

Pavitra requested the additional director of NVBDCP  to approve additional contractual manpower under malaria control programme for newly created Longding district. He further appealed to the Centre for supply of more mosquito nets (LLIN – Long Lasting Impregnated Bed Net) as a part of the malaria control measures in rural areas and supply of good quality microscope in various PHCs, CHCs and District Hospitals for detection of  malaria parasite during blood test.  Further, Parvitra appealed to the Centre for approval of the state Malaria Action Plan – PIP 2012-2013 and timely release of approved fund for successful implementation of the programme in the state.

In his address, NVBDCP additional director G S Sonal assured to extend all possible help for successful implementation of malaria control activities in the state.

Health and Family Welfare secretary Kaling Tayeng, NRHM MD Nani Mali and Director of Health Services (DHS) Dr. K. Nishing  also spoke in the review meeting.

All the State Programme Officers from 7 North Eastern states, Arunachal Pradesh DMOs, programme officers and Regional Directors of Health and Family Welfare from Kolkata, Shillong, Manipur, Mizoram attended the programme, among others.

 

 

Techi lays foundation stone of Upper Vivek Vihar Colony

ITANAGAR, May 3: Local MLA Techi Kaso has laid the foundation stone of the Upper Vivek Vihar Colony in a simple function held today.

Addressing the villagers as chief guest Kaso called upon them to maintain unity for rapid development of the village. He urged upon the villagers to select a proper location within the village area  for construction of school, health centre and playground for the villagers  and children in near future. A village, a colony or a society can not prosper without its basic needs like school, drinking water and electricity supply, he said while assuring the villagers to move the department concerned for development of proper infrastructure in the village.

Highlighting the initiatives being taken by the state Govt for construction of trans-Arunachal highway connecting all the districts of the state, Kaso also assured the villagers to take up  the issue of construction of entry road to the village with concern authorities..

Special invitee Nguri Rajen highlighted the development activities being carried out by local MLA within a short span of time. Rajen further stressed on maintaining unity among the villagers for proper development.

Earlier, Vivek Vihar Upper Colony Welfare Society general secretary Vikash Richo and senior member of the village S Yabe highlighted the difficulties being faced by the villagers without proper road link, electricity and water connection.  The  the uniqueness of the village is that it has accommodated almost all tribes of the Arunachal Pradesh.   

The Society lauded the  Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, Parliamentary secretaries, Gadam Ete, home and Kumar Waii, RWD, and MLA Techi Kaso for their initiatives to provide a entry road to the villagers.

 

 

Govt appealed for establishment of independent PS at Tato

ITANAGAR, May 3: Boh-Aao Welfare Society has strongly appealed the State government to initiate immediate steps for establishment of full-fledged independent police station at Tato Circle under Mechukha Sub-Division of West Siang district which is a long pending demand of the people of area.     

The Society informed that due to absence of independent police station, the people of area are facing lots problems as the existing BOP cannot take up various important issues like police verification certificate, registration of cases etc. for which the people are compelled to move down to Kaying police station, 87 km away from Tato for such works, which involves lots of money in transportation, food and lodging.

Informing that due to absence of well equipped police station, lots of law and order situations usually occur in the area creating chaos and confusion among the people, it strongly urged the govt to do needful for establishment of independent PS at Tato at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Society also appealed the local MLA of area to take up the matter with state govt for early materialisation of establishment of police station at Tato.

 

 

Students demand stringent punishments for ILP defaulters

ITANAGAR, May 2: All Papum Pare District Students Union (APPDSU) has demanded the state government to amend the Section 11 of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873 suitably in the next state assembly session so that stringent punishment could be initiated against the violators of the Act.

APPDSU in a release said that violation of ILP system under Section 11 of the said Act is a bailable offence and in most cases, the violators are let off by imposing minor punishment/fines which is encouraging the illegal migrants. So far, there has been no any action against any violators, it said.  Further, by taking the chance, some high profile persons in the state are also allegedly involved in transporting persons without having ILP from outside the state.

Since the offence is bailable one, neither any of the violators of the Act has so far been neither charge-sheeted nor tried in the court, APPDSU said in a release and urged the state government that offence under the Act should be made non-bailable with a minimum punishment of five years.

It appealed to the various NGOs, pressure groups and common masses of the state to pressurize the authority for early amendment of the Act.

Mid-day meal and underprivileged children

Government of India's flagship project, 'Mid-day meals' continues to nourish more and more underprivileged children, now benefiting approximately 12,00,000 children in India. The recent 'Hunger and Malnutrition' survey puts the number of malnourished children in the country at 42 per cent.

This programme is also being implemented by ISKCON Food Relief Foundation under the brand name of Annamrita in selected schools in  the country including Assam. The Foundation is a non-profit, non-religious, non-sectarian charitable trust. This project is being implemented in Government aided, and municipal schools for the benefit of underprivileged children. It is done without any commercial motive and the benefits are available to students at large without any discrimination on grounds of religion, caste, creed or sex.

Since the launch in 2004, state-of-the-art kitchens in the above mentioned states have been set up. As of now, the scheme caters approximately 12,00,000 children every day.

The purpose of implementing this scheme is to facilitate the Government in increasing the enrollment in these schools, reducing the drop out rate, and improving the attendance. Also as these are the formative years for the future adult, therefore nutrition is of prime importance.

Taking the ex-serviceman for a ride

Dear Editor,

We the undersigned ex-servicemen of Tirap district would like to inform you that atleast 28 persons had passed both the physical as well as the written examinations in the recently held APP recruitment processes, as such we were asked to appear in the viva voce on April 26 last.

However, to our utter dismay the recruitment board led by Superintendent of Police, Tirap district demanded Class-VIII passed certificates from us at around 7 pm on April 26. This despite the fact that we had completed both the physical and written tests only after all the certificates/ documents were scrutinized by the recruitment board.

It is a common knowledge that we had joined the armed forces on the basis of the minimum qualification of having passed Class-V. It would be impossible to fill up the 60 posts reserved for ex-servicemen if Class-VIII passed remains the required educational qualification while neglecting the fact that we were inducted into the Indian Army on the basis of the then required educational criteria.

In the latest instance, we underwent physical and mental rounds of tough tests although we had sacrificed the youth in us in the service of the nation. Atleast the authorities should have rejected our applications in the first without taking us for a ride only to be told at the eleventh hour that we are not educationally qualified. These all after we had exhausted our small savings and having gone through those physically and mentally tough processes.

In view of above facts, we would earnestly request your honour to help us get our due of having sacrificed the prime moment of our life in the service of the nation, and yet again give us the chance of serving the state by recommending and recognizing Class-V passed as the minimum educational qualification for all the ex-servicemen. We therefore, request the State Government to postpone the result of the recruitment till our concern and genuine demand is addressed in right perspective.

The Mishings

Dear Editor,

Yet again the ST issue of the Mishings. They already have ST status in Assam, and then what is the question in hand? It is unconstitutional to have ST status in two states at a time and also against public policy. The Mishings are availing reservation and other ST upliftment facilities in Assam. Why the ABK is so worried about? There are already 28 tribes in the state and with unemployment problems, insufficient govt funds, demand for ST status for Mishings is foolish. I understand the sentiments of the Adis'  but, it should be remembered that there are other fellow tribes also and such demands will prove drastic for everyone of us in the future.

For the settled Mishings in the state the least that could be hoped to be done is registering them in the category of OBC.

Dear Editor,

Physiotherapists are recommended for people with degenerative disorder, the physically challenged and those suffering from arthritis and neurological disorder.

But today physiotherapists are looking for jobs in government hospital. We hope that government will take initiative for developing physiotherapy profession by recruiting them so that they may serve the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Issue the annual statement

Dear Editor,

Through your esteem daily  I would like to request the concerned authority for issue of Annual Statement of Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) or New Pension Scheme for newly appointed Govt. employees. The employees of Directorate Higher and Technical Education have been allotted CPS account by the concerned department but till now the department has not issued CPS Annual Statement like GPF deposit. Therefore, I request the concerned authority for early issue of Annual Statement of CPS.

Quality teachers

Dear Editor,

The news regarding the opening of more DIET and BLTEI in Arunachal Pradesh is really very important as the quality input is very necessary. Without proper input in education sector, we cannot expect good result. As the Centre is nodding its proposal, now the state government should implement the same immediately.

I am a teacher in the state and hope for a better atmosphere in all govt. schools with professional teachers. Teaching is very honest profession and the teachers with proper professional qualification can justify the position of teachers in the society. Today, our schools are filled with teachers who are lacking a lot of skills and qualities required for teaching. Such institutions can train these untrained teachers and definitely help the state to maintain quality output.

What is the criteria?

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily, I want to highlight the short listing of the name for the interview for the post of Assistant Professor of Rajiv Gandhi University. The minimum educational qualification for the post of Assistant Professor is post graduate with NET qualification or Ph.D. But in spite of the essential qualification, from my department nobody’s name is in the list. The reason being told is that the short listing has been on the basis of higher marks obtained and holding of Ph.D degree or M.Phil degree. Then what is the use of postgraduate degree with NET qualification if we are not even qualified to face the interview? And if other factors also matter beside minimum qualification then why not teaching experience is also counted?  

Some of us are working sincerely as guest lecturers at a meager salary. But it’s very frustrating that inspite of all the experience, we are even not qualified to give the interview.
